Your First Line of Defense – The Holy Spirit
When a foreign matter enters our body, our first line of defense is our white blood cells. White blood cells protect the body from infection. They are much fewer in number than red blood cells, accounting for about 1 percent of your blood. They are known as the “immediate responders”!
The Holy Spirit is our immediate responder! Romans 8:26 tells us, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
When we are under spiritual attack the Holy Spirit is our first and only line of defense needed. Have you ever been in a situation, and you didn’t know what or how to pray? Sometimes we can become distraught in our emotions and lose focus, that is when we can depend on the Holy Spirit to act as our intercessor.
There are even times where the Holy Spirit will direct us to just lay prostrate on our face before God and wait for the Spirit of God to minister to us. Isaiah 11:2 tells us, ” And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”
Theres no better line of defense than that!
By no means am I a bible scholar…but what I have learned is how to tap into the Holy Spirit. Through many years of trial and error I have learned that I can’t fix my problems…well I could but it wouldn’t be the God way…wink wink. In my journey, I have developed a desire to please God in everything that I do. How did this development come by? By the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is not we ourselves that make the choice, we are drawn or lead by the divine calling of God. Through my many failed attempts to do things “my way”, the Holy Spirit placed into me a hidden treasure. What was that treasure? The light of God!
John 8:12 tells us, “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The Holy Spirit brings revelation, when something is revealed, there is an unveiling, an exposing, an enlightenment. John 14:26 says, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
John 16:13 says, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
As our first line of defense, the Holy Spirit will teach us all things of God, He will guide us, and He will reveal to you Gods plan for your life. He will place in you the desire to seek God, He will draw you into the intimacy of God, He will transform you from the inside out, He will create in you are clean heart, He will draw you out of the dark world you were born into and bring you into His marvelous light.
Ephesians 5:8 tells us, “For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.”
As we become children of light, the light of God will shine in us, on us, around us and through us! What does that mean? Darkness cannot reside in light, light casts out darkness. It is even a fact scientifically; nothing is hidden in the dark once it has been exposed to the light. Meaning, the darkness can no longer reside in you, it is exposed or revealed. Once you receive revelation on the thing or situation that has infected you, your first responder, the Holy Spirit will bring you out! He acts as a barrier between you and the infection, He will protect you and keep you. Nothing is hidden from God! God knows all about the challenges you face. Do you know the power that resides on the inside of you? How are you reacting to challenges? Are you “handling things”? Or have you come to a place of repentance and obedience in God? Give way to the Holy Spirit to move in you completely. Give your full surrender to God, make Him your first line of defense!
Meditation verse – 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 “But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.”
Blessings!!
